Webinar – Newcastle Market

Newcastle is Australia’s 7th largest city, has the highest Gross Regional Product in Australia and is undergoing transformation on a large scale.  The population is forecast to grow by 32,000 in Newcastle and 24,000 in Lake Macquarie, in the next 18 years. New developments include Transport Interchange, construction of new light rail, expansion of University to Newcastle CBD Campus showcasing the first in the world flexible learning centre, development of a Cruise terminal as well as multiple inner city unit developments.  Newcastle is now home to events including V8 Super Cars, Surfest, Water Polo Championships, Polo in the Park and is being considered as a port for around the world yacht racing.  All on the backdrop of Australia’s busiest working harbour.

Most importantly, it’s a place where people want to live.  Anyone who hasn’t visited Newcastle in a while is genuinely surprised at the changes.  Boutique wine bars, craft beer breweries, cafes and live entertainment.  Newcastle is joining cities like Milan Madrid and Zurich with E-bikes just introduced as a new transport option and fun way to travel around the inner city.

From an investors perspective, there is much opportunity.   Entry price is much lower than the capital cities.   Gains can be made by adding value to a property through renovation or granny flats.  The councils support increasing density resulting in additional opportunity through subdivision, dual occupancies and development.
